A mechanic says a customer’s oil leak turned out to be much worse than expected after he discovered a missing gasket on a recently installed oil filter—and he believes Jiffy Lube may be to blame.
TikTok creator @wrenchboss_nj filmed himself diagnosing a leaking Mini Cooper that a customer had brought into the shop.
According to the mechanic, he initially added oil dye to the engine to help pinpoint the source of the leak. But once he put the car on the lift, the problem became obvious almost immediately: Oil dripped directly onto the shop floor beneath it.
“I found the leak!” he says in the clip. “It’s definitely leaking.”
The mechanic says he quickly realized he probably never needed the dye in the first place because the oil was “leaking right out.” Still, he says the dye helped him track down the exact source of the problem.
