Pictured here is a sounder of dead pigs in Gqeberha.
The rotting bodies of about a dozen pigs have been found in Gqeberha in the past week, with African swine fever suspected to be responsible for the deaths.
The outbreak has been detected in the Grogro community near Sherwood.
Sherwood is a residential area in Gqeberha, while Grogro is a nearby informal settlement where the cases were identified.
Residents said the situation has left the area reeking, with some dog owners worried as their pets sniff and even lick or nibble near where the carcasses were found.
