New Delhi: Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday said that security camps set up in Maoist-dominated areas will now serve as Common Service Centres (CSCs) to implement 371 schemes of the state and central governments. The Union minister was speaking at the Shaheed Veer Gundadhur Seva Dera Jan Suvidha Kendra in Bastar, Chhattisgarh. "There are currently around 200 camps in Bastar, and of these, we will convert 70 camps into Service Centres (Seva Kendras) within the next one-and-a-half years and develop them into centres for tribal welfare," Shah said. The home minister further added, "The design of these camps will be finalised soon. They will have banking facilities, Aadhaar cards and ration cards will be issued, and funds under various government schemes will be disbursed from here. Through the 'Niyad Nellanar' scheme, the Chhattisgarh government is opening affordable ration shops in every village, establishing primary schools, and setting up cluster PSC and CSC centres between villages.""The Chhattisgarh government has also named this service camp after Shaheed Veer Gundadhur. This camp will always remind us that there was a time when six policemen were brutally murdered here, schools and hospitals were demolished, ration supplies were blocked, and people were deprived of employment and education. Today, at the very place where our six jawans were martyred, work has begun to create a sacred centre dedicated to the service of poor tribals," Shah noted.Shah added that efforts are now underway to provide drinking water to every poor household, while Aadhaar cards and ration cards are also being issued. Every person is being provided 7 kg of rice per month, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheme offering free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh has also reached the region, the Union home minister said. Shah said that when the central government resolved to end Maoism, its objective was not merely to eliminate Maoists, but also to ensure that all facilities available in big cities reach the poor tribals of the region, so that their children can have a brighter future.
