Emirates has begun building a $5.1bn engineering complex at Dubai South, billed as the world’s largest and most advanced maintenance plant.
Spanning 1.1 million square metres, the site includes the world’s largest free-span aircraft hangar and the biggest dedicated landing-gear workshop.
Completion is due by mid-2030, initially supporting heavy maintenance and overflow from the existing Engineering Centre at Dubai International Airport.
The hangar complex will service 28 wide-body jets simultaneously, with two paint hangars for the carrier’s fleet and narrow-body aircraft.
