Dr Cameron Shackell is an Adjunct Fellow at the University of Queensland’s Centre for Policy Futures. He completed his undergraduate degree in Economics at UQ, a Master of Letters in Applied Linguistics at ANU, and a PhD in Semiotics and Information Technology at QUT. He also teaches occasionally in the QUT School of Information Systems.
Cameron’s research explores how meaning, incentives and information shape behaviour, with current work on artificial intelligence, regulated markets, and the commercial determinants of health. He is also CEO (one day per week) of Equate IT Consulting Pty Ltd, which develops AI and IAM tools.
He has written numerous articles for The Conversation, World Trademark Review, and Brandingmag, and has been interviewed on ABC Radio about AI and creativity, prompt engineering, the rebranding of Twitter to X, Noam Chomsky, and the pricing and marketing of non-alcoholic (“nolo”) drinks.
