The development has sparked outrage within sections of the APC following allegations that Bello was not cleared by the party’s screening panel and deliberately avoided appearing before the committee handling the exercise.
Fresh controversy has trailed the senatorial ambition of former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, after the incumbent governor, Ahmed Ododo, was seen publicly queueing to vote for him during the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kogi Central senatorial primaries despite allegations that Bello failed to participate in the party’s screening exercise.
A video broadcast by Television Continental and later shared on X captured Governor Ododo standing in line during the voting process organised for Bello’s senatorial bid.
Sharing the footage, a media aide to FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka wrote: “Loyalty! Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, joined the queue in the voting of former Governor of the Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, for the APC Kogi Central senatorial district primaries.”
