The prices of flowers rose sharply in Dindigul district. Jasmine which was selling at a price ranging from ₹300 to ₹500 per kg last month was selling at ₹600 to ₹700, this month.Traders at the Anna flower market said the prices of flowers had dropped earlier due to the intense Summer. However, the prices have increased during the auspicious Tamil month of Vaikasi. Another factor was the summer rains, they said.Mullai, Oleander and Chrysanthemums were selling at a price ranging from ₹200 to ₹250 each, Button Roses at ₹150 to₹200 and Marigold at ₹60 to ₹70, the traders said.The farmers from various villages surrounding Dindigul, including Vellodu, Kalikkampatti, Chinnalapatti, Sirunayakkanpatti, Perumal Kovilpatti, Athigaripatti and Kosavapatti bring the flowers to the market which is then transported to various places across Tamil Nadu and to the neighbouring States.
