Ventana Sur will return to Montevideo for its 2026 edition, confirming the Río de la Plata format as the new working structure for Latin America’s leading audiovisual market.
The Marché du Film, Uruguay’s ACAU and Argentina’s INCAA unveiled Monday the dates for the market’s second Montevideo edition. Ventana Sur will run Nov. 30-Dec. 4, 2026, in the Uruguayan capital.
The five-day edition will unfold across several of Montevideo’s landmark cultural venues. They include the national cultural center Sodre, the Cinemateca Uruguaya which will host market screenings, and the historic Teatro Solís.
The announcement marks another step in Ventana Sur’s evolving regional footprint since its launch in Buenos Aires in 2009. After 15 editions in the Argentine capital, the market moved to Montevideo in 2024, returned to Buenos Aires in 2025 and will now head back to Uruguay under a Río de la Plata format designed to reinforce continuity between both cities.
Ventana Sur has become the main international gateway for Latin American films, series, animation, documentaries and genre projects seeking financing, co-production partners, festival exposure, sales agents and distribution. Organizers say the market brings together more than 3,000 international professionals each year.
