MANILA, Philippines — Amid intensifying climate conditions, Manila Water highlights the Wawa-Calawis Water Supply System as a critical, reliable source securing water for the East Zone concession area.
The Wawa-Calawis Water Supply System is a two-phase bulk water supply project designed not only to respond to current supply pressures but to future-proof Metro Manila’s growing demand for decades to come. More than an infrastructure project, it is a strategic investment in reliability, ensuring that water remains available not just today, but for the next generation of customers who will depend on it.
Phase 1 of the system, completed in 2022, established the Calawis Water Supply System anchored on the Tayabasan Weir. This facility delivers 80 million liters per day (MLD) to the Calawis water treatment plant, which has been supplying water to nearly one million residents across expansion areas in Antipolo City and nearby communities.
