It’s divine!
Bette Midler will voice the part of the fairy godmother in Netflix’s upcoming animated feature, “Steps.“
Midler joins Amanda Seyfried, who was cast as Cinderella. Ali Wong (Lilith) and Stephanie Hsu (Margot) will play Cinderella’s evil stepsisters.
Midler said, “The beloved Fairy Godmother, the wholesome Fairy Godmother, the one with all the good intentions, has been around for a long, long time. This particular version of the Fairy Godmother has good intentions, but she’s a little bit of a bumbler and she’s a little bit of a schemer. I’m thrilled to be part of this film! And I’m thrilled to be with this cast!”
Directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, the animated film puts a twist on the evil stepsisters. The film follows Lilith, who is blamed for hijacking the Royal Ball with a stolen magic wand. She accidentally turns her sister, Margot, into a frog and leaves the kingdom in the hands of a prince-obsessed mean girl. Now Lilith must team up with Cinderella, and a surprisingly dreamy troll, to save the kingdom, repair the fractured fairytale and prove that even so-called “villains” deserve a shot at happily-ever-after.
