Hebrew media reported that Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has instructed the implementation of the death penalty against Palestinians accused of carrying out attacks in the occupied West Bank, a move previously pushed by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
Israel’s Channel 14 said that, under Katz’s instructions, the death penalty “will be adopted as the first option and punishment against any attacker arrested alive after killing Israelis”.
The channel added that the decision was signed on Sunday by the commander of the Israeli army’s Central Command, Major General Avi Bluth, following Katz’s directive to begin enforcing the law
According to the report, the order allows the implementation of the death penalty against attackers in the West Bank in line with legal provisions.
