The Global Sumud Flotilla said it had detected unidentified vessels near its convoy heading to break the blockade on Gaza.

Activists aboard the flotilla said in posts on X that ships and fast boats had been seen moving in front of the convoy, behind it and along one of its sides.

The development came shortly after the flotilla announced it had reached international waters in the Mediterranean Sea.

On Thursday, the convoy of 54 vessels set sail from the Turkish Mediterranean city of Marmaris in a new attempt to break the Israeli blockade imposed on Gaza.

The flotilla includes members of the Global Sumud Flotilla’s board of directors, among them Sumeyra Akdeniz Ordu, Dr Imane Al-Makhloufi, Saif Abu Keshk, Ko Tinmaung and Natalia Maria, in addition to a large number of activists from 70 countries.
