MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Monday asserted that the Senate was “never under attack,” contrary to statements made by Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.
The statement came after Palace Press Officer Claire Castro was asked about President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s reaction to the chaos that erupted in the Senate on May 13, when several gunshots were heard in the building’s hallways.
“Was it under attack? It was not. The Senate was not under attack; you can see that from the news, not only from statements of the NBI and PNP. It was only the statement made by Senator Alan Cayetano,” said Castro at a briefing.
