Indonesia needs to revise its cabotage rule in business aviation to allow the sector to really take off, given the country’s great untapped potential in terms of territory, a leading private jet operator has said.Cabotage refers to the requirement that an aircraft bear a specific country’s registration and flag to be able to pick up and drop off passengers within that country.
“The cabotage requirement forces a business jet to return empty to its base after dropping off passengers visiting Indonesia,” chief commercial officer of private jet operator VistaJet Ian Moore told The Jakarta Post during a one-on-one interview at the Hong Kong Business Aviation Center recently.
