Over time, the director began noticing how cinematic and emotionally powerful the boy’s life felt. “He used to win matches single-handedly. I felt his personality and journey had the potential for a powerful cinematic character. That thought eventually became the foundation for the story of Peddi,” Buchi Babu quipped.Buchi Babu said every time he saw Peddi Raju, he felt there was a strong film character hidden within him. That thought slowly became the foundation for Peddi, although the director clarified that the film also includes fictional elements added around the original inspiration.How Sukumar encouraged Buchi Babu SanaThe director also opened up about the writing process behind the film. Buchi Babu revealed that he completed much of the script while spending time at a temple and driving around Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road. He credited director Sukumar for motivating him during the process. According to Buchi Babu, Sukumar encouraged him to trust his instincts and fully develop the story the way he imagined it.The filmmaker further shared that while writing the script, he silently hoped Ram Charan would accept the story without asking for major changes.
