A new study found many African women unconsciously associate lighter skin with beauty, success and social acceptance.

In some African countries, more than 50 per cent of women regularly use skin-lightening products. In South Africa, the rate is 32 per cent, while in Nigeria it’s 77 per cent. This dwarf rates in other regions of the world.
