BAGUIO CITY — Progressive groups in the Cordillera on Saturday denounced what they described as a Senate “circus,” and called for the arrest of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, the removal of Vice President Sara Duterte, and accountability from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. over corruption and worsening economic conditions.
During a protest action at Malcolm Square, Louise Montenegro, regional director of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers, criticized Senate proceedings, saying lawmakers had turned the institution into a “perya (circus)” and “telenovela” instead of addressing the people’s urgent concerns.
“The Senate is supposed to craft laws for labor, education, and health. They should defend the Constitution and push for the removal of officials like Sara Duterte,” Montenegro said.
