The original plan on the big day was to get legally married in front of their 150 guests and walk down to her late-grandma's song 'Calon Lân'.Calon Lân, which translates to 'A pure heart', is a Welsh hymn which has now also become associated with Welsh rugby union. But due to the religious nature of the song, she was informed this wouldn't be possible in a civil ceremony.READ MORE: Eurovision 2026 LIVE: Bulgaria crowned winner but UK humiliated with just 1 pointREAD MORE: Molly-Mae Hague and daughter Bambi seen at Venezuela Fury's wedding after arriving in private jetThis is when the pair decided to host an 'intimate' legal ceremony before their larger celebrant service so they could incorporate the personal song into their wedding. And to take the pressure off the big day, Ashleigh, 29, decided to make the first ceremony relaxed, which saw her getting legally married in a dressing gown.Heartwarming photos show Ashleigh standing in a white robe and slippers with rollers in her hair and make-up free while her hubby Jake wore black gym clothes and white trainers.Ashleigh says both their mothers and her daughter also wore their pink bridal pjs while they tied the knot and their dads and brothers were also dressed in casual attire.Ashleigh said her family loved the 'pj look' and venue staff admitted this was the first ever 'dressing gown wedding' they'd ever hosted. The executive officer also admitted it gave her hubby a 'reality check' of what married life would look like as she says she often wears pyjamas at home.Ashleigh, from Merthyr, South Wales, said: "We've been together for 13 years since we were 17. It wasn't originally planned but we had a 150-guest wedding so it was a very big day."When we went to the venue in October, there were registrars there and I wanted to walk down the aisle to a certain song but because it was a hymn and not a church, it wasn't allowed."It would have been my gran's 100th birthday the day we got married and it was her song. She had dementia for 10 years and this song was the only song she knew off by heart. She couldn't speak but if we started to sing Calon Lân, she knew every word."It's a very personal song and I wanted to make sure I was walking down the aisle to this. We thought, 'why don't we get married at 10 o'clock in the morning?' and then we had the celebrant service after."I quite liked the idea of getting married in my rollers and dressing gown. I said 'I'll be in my pyjamas most of my married life and this is how he sees me most of the time, so this is how I'm going to marry him'."I gave him a reality check of what married life would be like. Everyone was very chilled. Our mothers were in matching bridal pyjamas too and Jake was in gym clothes."For her second ceremony and the rest of her wedding, Ashleigh had her make-up done, hair curled and wore a white off-the-shoulder gown.Following her big day, Ashleigh is now urging other brides to have a 'relaxed' ceremony before their celebrant one as she said it took the pressure off the big day.Ashleigh said: "It was very chilled and relaxed and I'm so glad we did it as at the next ceremony with everyone there I wasn't nervous at all because I had already seen him in the morning."I'd recommend it to other brides as it took that pressure away and I wasn't nervous going down to the big ceremony and the song was absolutely perfect."All our guests said how they preferred our service to any other wedding service as it was done within 10 minutes and everyone had more time to party and get on with the day. The photos make me smile and it's not often you see someone getting married in this."After posting her dressing gown wedding photos on social media, users were quick to comment on her look. One user wrote: "Iconic, to do this in your dressing gown and curlers."Ashleigh replied: "I said to him after it, this will be me most of the time in my pjs so you might as well marry me like it."Article continues belowAnother commented: "What a great idea, takes the nerves away a wee bit."A third added: "Absolutely brilliant, congratulations."A fourth wrote: "This is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. Congrats!"
