The state-owned electricity firm's power generation subsidiary, PLN IP, has signed an agreement with Bangladesh's Bay Group to explore renewable power development in the country, including opportunities to bid on national solar power projects.

PT PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP), the power generation arm of state-owned electricity company PLN, is expanding its renewable energy business by targeting a 495 megawatt (MW) solar power project in Bangladesh.The expansion was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between PLN IP and Bangladeshi conglomerate Bay Group on exploring solar power plant development in the South Asian country.

PLN IP president director Bernadus Sudarmanta said the collaboration marked its first foray into Bangladesh as part of its international expansion strategy, particularly in the renewable energy sector.
