Thomas Chen doesn’t just build servers. He builds trust. As a liaison between NVIDIA and its partners, Chen ensures that systems run smoothly from design to deployment.
Based in Taipei, Taiwan, Chen earned master’s degrees in electronic and biomedical engineering from research universities National Chiao Tung University and National Taiwan University. He then began his career in enterprise server system design, working on compute trays, storage and GPU servers. Starting off with a focus on board-level design, he gradually expanded into designing full systems.
When Chen joined NVIDIA in 2020, he jumped at the opportunity to work more closely with GPUs and AI infrastructure. As a senior application engineer manager, he acts as a bridge between external customers and internal NVIDIA teams.
“I help make sure NVIDIA’s AI platforms are solid and ready to launch,” Chen said. “I’ve always been inspired by what NVIDIA is doing in AI and hardware. The chance to work on platforms like NVIDIA GB200 and HGX, and to learn from some of the most intelligent engineers out there, really drew me to the company.”
Chen’s work spans design, validation, debugging and production ramp-up — on the production line and in data centers. He collaborates with teams to troubleshoot hardware and firmware challenges and improve factory efficiency. His team builds customer confidence by identifying and resolving issues early in the design and production processes.
