For the sports streaming service DAZN and the German Football League (DFL), it is a “milestone”: Shortly before the Champions League semi-final between FC Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening, the streaming website Livetv.sx was blocked, DAZN and DFL write in a joint statement.
The website “is now subject to blocking measures,” the statement says. The basis for this is a court decision by the Cologne Regional Court (File No. 14 O 68/26), which granted a DNS blocking order sought by the Clearingstelle Urheberrecht im Internet (CUII). According to their statements, the DFL, and DAZN participated in the proceedings by contributing data and analyses.

According to the DFL and DAZN, livetv.sx was the largest illegal sports streaming platform in Germany and had been active for 13 years. Users can watch live stream broadcasts of football matches there for free, which originally come from rights holders such as DAZN or Sky. The platform had circumvented previous blocking attempts, thanks in part to uncooperative hosting providers and domain registrars, the DFL and DAZN explain. Further legal steps are being considered.
