The Nigeria Cricket Federation Super League burst into life with an action-packed opening day at the TBS Cricket Oval, Lagos, as Northern Lions and Middle-Belt Tigers secured victories in their respective fixtures to kickstart the inaugural competition in style.

The opening match of the tournament saw Northern Lions produce a disciplined all-round performance to defeat Southern Sharks by four wickets.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Southern Sharks struggled to gain momentum against a sharp Northern Lions bowling attack. Reigneth Osagie made an immediate impact with early breakthroughs that reduced the Sharks to 6/2 inside the first over.

Danladi Isaac attempted to steady the innings with a patient 26 off 33 deliveries, while Akhigbe Miracle added 22 runs in the middle order. However, regular wickets prevented Southern Sharks from building meaningful partnerships as they were eventually bowled out for 89 in 20 overs.

Northern Lions Captain Okpe Sylvester led from the front with a superb spell of 3 wickets for just 9 runs, while Reigneth Osagie and Beki Mubarak Kehinde provided strong support with three and two wickets respectively.
