File: Federal Lawmaker Representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Adams Oshiomhole
The President of the Association of Yorubas in Diaspora, South Africa, Dr Olusola Agbeniyi, has asked the senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, to desist from making what he described as false claims over recent xenophobic tensions in the country.
Oshiomhole had, during a Senate plenary, called on Nigeria to respond firmly to developments in South Africa, invoking the principle of reciprocity in international relations following recent anti-foreigner protests.
The former Edo State governor also said in an interview on Arise TV that repeated killings of Nigerians in South Africa had gone without accountability.
However, Agbeniyi, in an interview with Sunday PUNCH on Saturday, faulted the senator’s claims, insisting that no Nigerian was killed during the latest protests.
