He added that emergency teams were battling difficult conditions as they continued efforts to evacuate survivors from the rubble.
At least five persons have died while 10 others were pulled out alive after a three-storey building under construction came down on Saturday morning in Durumi 3 area near Gudu Market, Abuja.
The incident, which triggered panic in the densely populated district, left emergency responders scrambling through debris in search of additional victims believed to still be trapped.
Confirming the development, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said rescue operations were still underway at the site.
According to him, “At least five persons have been confirmed dead while 10 others were rescued alive after a three-storey building under construction collapsed in the Durumi 3 area, near Gudu Market, Abuja.”
