May 16 (UPI) -- At least eight people are dead and about 35 are injured after a public bus and a freight train collided, causing the bus to burst into flames.
The flames spread to nearby vehicles near Makkasan train station in the center of Bangkok Saturday.
The crash happened around 3:40 p.m. ICT. The bus appeared to get stuck on an intersection with the rail line after the safety barriers descended, Al Jazeera reported. When the train hit the bus, it continued moving and dragged some nearby vehicles with it before the bus caught fire.
Some motorcycles and their riders were also thrown onto the road after the crash, according to video shared on social media.
