Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) president Kalvakuntla Kavitha sought the removal of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar from the Union Council of Ministers until the completion of the investigation and trial in the POCSO case involving his son.In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she expressed concern over what she described as issues of “institutional propriety, legal ethics and public trust” arising from the continuation of Bandi Sanjay in the ministry while the case is under investigation. The FIR registered against the Minister’s son under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act reveal the seriousness of the allegations and it requires an independent, transparent and fair investigation, she said.Ms Kavitha argued that Bandi Sanjay’s continuation in office could create a perception of conflict of interest and raise doubts about the neutrality of the investigative process. She stated that public confidence in the justice system could be affected if there was any perception of political or administrative influence over police procedures, evidence collection or witness protection.
