Effat University, Saudi Arabia’s first private university for women, celebrates its 25th Career Day helping its students into the workforce. The university has been accepting male students as well for the last four years, but the sexes remain strictly segregated.
The university’s patron Princess Lolowah Al-Faisal, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees and General Supervisor of the university, attended the event with Princess Noura bint Turki Al-Faisal, who has a master’s degree in international business, University President Dr. Haifa Reda Jamal Al-Lail and other academic leaders.
This year’s event was called “Tomorrow’s Talents: A Roadmap to 2030.” Saudi ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Saudi government introduced ‘Saudi Vision 2030’ to diversify the country’s economy, society and culture and reduce its dependency on oil.
Professor Talat Zaki Hafiz, economist, financial analyst and keynote speaker moderated a panel about career paths, entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, global opportunities and market expansion.
Many organisations and companies offering job opportunities and development programmes came to the event and a ‘Career Day Exhibition’ allowed students to speak to participating organisations and explore the training and job possibilities.
