New York Yankees lefty Max Fried has been placed on the 15-day injured list after imaging revealed he had a bone bruise in his left elbow. There is no timetable for his return. The club said Fried will have follow-up imaging done on the elbow in a few weeks, or when he is asymptomatic, to determine when he can start throwing again.“I’m definitely bummed that I’m going to have to be missing some time, but overall happy that it doesn’t look like it’s going to be anything serious, no surgery required or anything like that,” Fried said Friday. “So (you) never want to go on the IL and miss games, but also understand that the long-term outlook still looks good.”Fried underwent an MRI and CT scan on Thursday and was later examined by Yankees team doctor Dr. Chris Ahmad. Dr. Neal ElAttrache, a surgeon known for his work on MLB pitchers, will also review the imaging. But Friday before the first game of the Subway Series against the Mets, Fried said he was “optimistic” about his recovery and not worried about this being a long-term issue.Initial alarms went off on Wednesday when the Yankees pulled Fried after just 61 pitches in a 7-0 loss to the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. After the game, Fried said he felt like he had hyperextended his left elbow and that he felt some discomfort in the area of his triceps. Fried had Tommy John surgery in 2014 when he was a prospect in the San Diego Padres organization.
