Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, finally hit theatres on May 15 after facing multiple delays and cancellations. On the same day, Trisha visited Chennai’s Rohini Theatre with director RJ Balaji and actor Karthi. Music composer Sai Abhyankkar also joined the team during the visit. The film’s total worldwide gross collection now stands at approximately Rs 20.66 crore.The Tamil version led the film’s performance at the domestic box office. It contributed nearly Rs 12 crore net and recorded an overall occupancy of 54 per cent across 3,448 shows. Evening and night screenings witnessed the biggest rush from audiences, with night occupancy in Tamil regions reportedly crossing 75 per cent.The Telugu dubbed version also performed decently on opening day. It collected Rs 2.40 crore net from 1,443 shows and recorded an overall occupancy of 30 per cent.
