Bandits on Thursday launched a deadly attack on Moda Village in the Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing one resident and injuring three others during a cattle-rustling operation.
The attackers reportedly invaded the community at about 5pm, shooting sporadically to terrorise villagers before attempting to cart away cattle belonging to residents.
The victim killed during the attack was identified as Shehu Moda, while three other residents sustained varying degrees of gunshot injuries.
Police operatives attached to the Zamfara State Command swiftly responded to a distress call and engaged the fleeing bandits in a fierce gun duel, forcing them to abandon the stolen cattle and escape into nearby bushes with suspected bullet wounds.
