NEW DELHI, May 15. /TASS/. Russia insists on broader representation of the global majority at the UN Security Council, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, addressing the BRICS Foreign Minister’s Meeting in New Delhi.
"We resolutely [push for] the expansion of representation of global majority countries at the UN Security Council. We confirm our support for the ambitions of Brazil and India to secure permanent membership on the Council while simultaneously rectifying the injustice toward African countries," he said at the third plenary session titled, "Reform of Global Governance and the Multilateral System."
"We can see no added value in the idea of giving additional seats to collective West countries who are already overrepresented at the Council and continue to claim the monopoly of shaping the global agenda," Lavrov added.
