The contemporary pearl jewelry designer Melanie Georgacopoulos has debuted her first high jewelry collection, introducing onyx and diamonds alongside her signature pearls. Georgacopoulos was inspired by the visual and physical dynamics of an eclipse to consider transformation and contrast, light and shadow, in a series of jewelry compositions, including the stand-out Eclipse Chain necklace.
The necklace, above, sees strings of delicate freshwater pearls weave their way through custom-cut open links of onyx, uniting gems from land and sea. Bright, ethereal pearls meet inky, inscrutable onyx, with a sprinkle of starlight provided by a gold and diamond clasp.
