A one-year moratorium on data center construction has been approved in Inver Grove Heights, a city near Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The Inver Grove Heights City Council voted on Monday to approve the moratorium in response to concerns about data centers in general as well as an application for a proposed campus at 5890 Carmen Avenue.

The application, backed by data center firm T5 Data Centers, called for a 5MW, closed-loop cooling data center that would have spanned approximately 55,000 sq ft (5,109 sqm).
During the one-year period, the city will consider suitable locations, zoning districts, use types, and regulations for data centers.
