May 15 (UPI) -- Brazilian soccer star Vinicius Jr. and his girlfriend, influencer and TV personality Virginia Fonseca, ended their relationship, she announced Friday.
Fonseca, who has 54.8 million Instagram followers, posted about the split on the social media platform. She confirmed her relationship with Vinicius Jr., who has 59.7 million followers, in October.
"Today we chose to respect each other and each follow our own path," Fonseca wrote on her Instagram story. "I wish Vinicius much happiness and great success, and all of that with much affection.
"I ask for everyone's respect so that this may be a closed chapter in each of our lives, just as it will be in mine."
