Donald Trump has waded in to the leadership crisis engulfing Sir Keir Starmer's premiership by suggesting he needs to address energy and immigration to stay in Downing Street.
The US President told reporters 'he's in a lot of trouble' as he flew back to Washington from a state visit to China.
He said it would be 'tough' for Sir Keir to survive politically unless he 'straightened out' immigration and opened up oil and gas reserves in the North Sea.
Asked if he should quit, Trump told reporters: I don't say that. I think he's a nice man, actually.'
Meanwhile Wes Streeting has hailed Andy Burnham as Labour's 'best chance' to beat Reform in the Makerfield by-election.
