A state-of-the-art Video Surveillance System (VSS) has been commissioned at the Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) Bengaluru Railway Station at Majestic to strengthen railway security infrastructure and enhance passenger safety through advanced surveillance technologies.

According to South Western Railway (SWR), the new surveillance system became operational on May 13 and provides comprehensive monitoring coverage across the station premises. The surveillance network covers station entrances and exits, circulating areas, booking offices, reservation halls, concourses, platforms, subways, foot overbridges (FOBs), waiting halls and other vulnerable locations.

The SWR said that the system enables round-the-clock monitoring of passenger movement and station activities. As part of the project, 168 IP-based high-definition CCTV cameras compliant with Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) specifications have been installed to ensure reliable and high-quality surveillance throughout the station.

The VSS has been integrated with an advanced Video Management System (VMS), along with Video Analytics (VA) features, for intelligent monitoring and improved situational awareness. “The VA is capable of automatically detecting predefined security events and abnormal activities, thereby helping security personnel undertake proactive monitoring and ensure quicker response to incidents,” an official said.
