Etemad newspaper, citing an informed source at Tarbiat Modares University, reported that law enforcement forces entered the Babaei Campus home to the university’s Science and Technology Park for the second time in the past three weeks, demanding that the 60-hectare site be evacuated and handed over to the police.
According to the report, officers entered the campus without presenting a judicial warrant and began placing prefabricated containers (conexes) and equipment in parts of the site. The move reportedly caused tensions between the deployed forces and university staff.
Earlier, the Public Relations office of Tarbiat Modares University had announced that unidentified individuals entered the Babaei Campus on the evening of April 25 and set up tents there. At the time, the university said it was following up on the issue through legal channels.
The Babaei Campus of the Tarbiat Modares Science and Technology Park is located north of Shahid Babaei Expressway and houses 16 knowledge-based companies working in areas including medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, clean energy, biotechnology, agriculture, and water treatment. The source quoted by Etemad said the actions by law enforcement appear to be part of an effort to repurpose the scientific complex and place it under the control of security and police institutions.
