Thousands of Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) part-time teachers working in Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria have begun a coordinated withdrawal from normal academic activities as frustration deepens over the Federal Government’s prolonged delay in regularising their appointments and improving their welfare.

SaharaReporters obtained messages circulating among affected teachers in several schools nationwide, confirming that the action is already spreading, with reports of compliance and partial shutdowns across multiple Federal Unity Colleges.

Some of the messages obtained from the teachers read: “FGGC Gboko complying fully,” while another stated, “Fully compliance by FGGC Potiskum.” Another message also declared, “FGC Azare total closure, solidarity forever,” indicating varying levels of participation across institutions.

The schools from which these messages were obtained are spread across several states of the federation, including Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Gboko in Benue State; FGGC Potiskum in Yobe State; Federal Government College (FGC) Azare in Bauchi State; FGC Jos in Plateau State; FGC New Bussa in Niger State; and FGC Ilorin in Kwara State.
