Polavaram District Collector K. Dinesh Kumar on Friday suspended 10 officials of the District Water Management Authority (DWMA) for failing to provide work to tribals under the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (VB-G RAM G), formerly known as MGNREGA.
The suspended officials include two Assistant Project Officers, four Technical Assistants and four Field Assistants. They allegedly failed to achieve the targets set for providing employment to beneficiaries under the VB-G RAM G. The officials were entrusted with execution of works under Jaladhara - Jala Harathi, a State government initiative aimed at rejuvenating minor irrigation sources.
According to an official release issued by Mr. Dinesh Kumar, V.R. Puram Mandal Assistant Project Officer M. Reddibabu generated only 18,667 person-days of work against the target of 1.27 lakh person-days.
Similarly, in Rampachodavaram, APO Bandila Satyanarayana generated 23,065 person-days of work against the target of 1.46 lakh person-days.
Mr. Dinesh Kumar stated that failure to provide work under the VB-G RAM G would leave tribals without employment and adversely affect rejuvenation of minor irrigation resources in the district.
