Supporters of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar marked his 65th birthday with prayers and a community meal on McGann Hospital premises in Shivamogga on Friday.
Followers gathered at the Chowdeshwari Temple on the premises of McGann Hospital, where they offered special prayers seeking the deity’s blessings for their leader. Following the prayers, they served vegetarian and non-vegetarian food to patients, attendants, and visitors on the hospital grounds — a gesture that blended celebration with compassion.
K. Devendrappa, secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, led the event along with party workers, raising slogans in praise of Mr. Shivakumar and conveying warm wishes on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Devendrappa expressed hope that Mr. Shivakumar would one day lead the State as Chief Minister. “He is a leader who has always stood by farmers, workers, and the common people. Many of us in the party believe he deserves to be the Chief Minister of Karnataka,” he said.
“We offered prayers to the goddess seeking her grace for our leader. The food served here today is prasada — a sacred offering extended to all who are present on the premises,” he added.
