Cairo is hosting a two day regional forum on renewable energy. The “Supporting Startups, Innovative and Renewable Energy Companies” forum is taking place at the Electronics Research Institute in Cairo on May 10–11, 2026. The institute has organised the forum with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO), and the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture.
Experts, academics, and officials from Arab countries are attending as part of an interactive scientific and practical programme which they hope will interest young people and promote innovation in renewable energy.
There will be scientific sessions, interactive workshops, presentations from start-up projects, and discussions on innovation, green finance, technology transfer, and financial support for entrepreneurship ecosystems in the Arab region.
Professor Dr. Sherine Muharram, President of the Electronics Research Institute and other speakers will welcome guests followed by the first scientific session called “Building and Developing Startups and Innovative Companies in Renewable Energy: Mechanisms and Methods.” Professor Mahmoud Salem, head of the institute’s Power Electronics and Energy Conversion Department will chair the session, which will discuss topics like “Innovation in Renewable Energy: Opportunities and Challenges,” presented by Dr. Haitham Abu-Rub, Professor at the College of Science and Engineering at Qatar’s Hamad Bin Khalifa University.
