Andy Burnham, Wes Streeting and Angela Rayner have all lined up to challenge Keir Starmer.

The Prime Minister's grip on power has been rocked as two of his potential leadership rivals begin to play their hands.

On Thursday afternoon, Streeting resigned from his role as Health Secretary, telling Starmer: "Where we need vision, we have a vacuum. Where we need direction, we have drift."

Hours later, Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham confirmed he would seek a return to Parliament after Josh Simons MP said he will step down, to allow Burnham to potentially get back to the Commons to challenge Keir Starmer.

Neither rival has a clear path to No10 and Streeting has yet to challenge Starmer formally for the leadership, suggesting he may not have the support of enough MPs.
