MANILA, Philippines – Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. on Thursday reported weaker earnings in the first quarter due to softer consumer spending and ongoing expansion offsetting double-digit sales growth.
The Po family-led restaurant operator said on Thursday net income after tax (NIAT) fell 27 percent to P134 million in first quarter, while core NIAT dropped 17 percent.

The listed restaurant operator said earnings were pressured by expansion-related investments, demand-generating activities, muted same-store sales and non-recurring network restructuring costs.
