MANILA, Philippines — Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa asked the Philippine National Police (PNP) if he can stay in a room inside the chief’s residence in Camp Crame, as he no longer felt safe being in the Senate after the gunfire.
This was revealed by Acting Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca during an interview with Senate reporters on Thursday—after Dela Rosa supposedly asked Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla and PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez if he can stay with the PNP instead.
“He did not say that he will go into hiding, but what I will say is that Senator Bato, with what happened, I felt his anxiety and concern, so when he went down he talked to Secretary Remulla and Chief PNP, and offered to Chief PNP if he can stay under the custody of the PNP,” Aplasca said.
