BYD is adding its ultra-fast “flash charging” system to top-selling electric vehicles sold outside of China, as it seeks to more directly challenge petrol vehicles in international markets including Europe.

The world’s biggest EV maker launched the flash charging last month, saying it can recharge a battery from 10 percent to 70 percent in 5 minutes, with 9 minutes to reach 97 percent and only slightly longer in subzero temperatures.
