Energy-Storage.news Premium speaks with Pat Wood III, co-chair at Pew Charitable Trusts, about the non-profit’s DER Policy Playbook.
A new report on distributed energy resources (DERs) from NGO Pew Charitable Trusts Distributed Energy Resource Initiative Advisory Council aims to provide state regulators and policymakers with practical examples of how to expand local power generation, regardless of market structure.
The report, titled the ‘DER Policy Playbook’, focuses on real-world examples rather than theoretical frameworks.
According to Pat Wood III, co-chair, chairman at Hunt Energy Network; and former chairman at the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the goal was to create something people would actually read.
“Let’s just pick the golden examples,” Wood says. “We wanted to make sure that every state, from Texas to Alabama, could see some path forward.”
