Saudi Arabia — the Mideast Gulf’s largest crude producer — has weathered the regional crisis better than many of its neighbors thanks to its ability to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. Even so, exports have only recovered to about two-thirds of prewar levels. Higher oil prices are offering short-term relief, but any windfall could be offset by mounting pressure on the kingdom’s fast-growing non-oil economy, which is increasingly exposed to the regional slowdown.
