Power line spark ignites natural gas leak in dramatic video from North Carolina

Dashcam footage shows the moment that a power line sparked a natural gas leak in North Carolina. A utility company working in a neighbourhood in Charlotte on Wednesday (13 May) reportedly struck a natural gas main whilst digging. Video shows the moment that the main exploded, sending a huge column of fire high into the sky. Several homes in the immediate area were evacuated out of caution, Matthews Fire & EMS said as they confirmed that almost 100 emergency personnel attended the scene to deal with the blaze and the leak. “This incident could have been quite a bit worse,” said Matthews Fire Chief Rob Kinniburgh.
