Carrie Johnson, wife of former prime minister Boris Johnson, expressed relief, stating the decision makes 'women and girls across Britain safer'. Worboys was initially jailed in 2009 for 19 sexual offences, with a previous parole decision in 2017 being overturned following a legal challenge by victims. He received two life sentences in 2019 after admitting to further crimes that came to light following the initial publicity. The Parole Board stated they were not satisfied Worboys no longer posed a risk to the public, hence refusing his release or transfer to open prison.
