May 14 (UPI) -- Rory McIlroy once felt uncertain about his golf future, but says he now sees a "clear road" for more major titles entering the 2026 PGA Championship.

McIlroy spoke about his golf future during his pre-tournament news conference at Aronimink Golf Club. The second major of the golf season will be held from Thursday through Sunday at the 7,394-yard course in Newton Square, Pa.

The No. 2 player in the Official World Golf Ranking conquered his long-fought challenge of winning his first Masters title in 2025, which led to relief, but he said also created unease about what was next for his future.

McIlroy won a second consecutive green jacket last month and enters this year's PGA Championship with clarity.

"I think I came into this tournament last year a little uncertain of what my future was in the game," McIlroy said. "I'd conquered this thing I wanted to conquer for so long and I still hadn't really reset goals or found whatever that motivation was to keep going or go forward and set goals for the rest of my career. It probably took me a good few months to get to that point. Coming into this tournament feels a lot different than what it did last year.
